PNM Fleet Shop

The PNM Fleet Shop in Alamogordo, New Mexico, was designed to provide a state-of-the-art facility for maintaining PNM’s fleet vehicles. The building is specifically engineered to accommodate the height of PNM’s tallest vehicles, with a 30-foot clearance to allow for full access on lifts.

Building Features: The facility includes two open vehicular bays, one of which is equipped with a lifting station for servicing vehicles. The shop area within these bays is well-equipped with welding equipment, a bandsaw, an iron worker, a belt sander, a drill press, and multiple work benches. A 5-ton gantry crane is also installed to aid in the movement and maintenance of equipment across the shop.

Other essential areas within the building include a storage room for parts, a storage room for tires, and an oil room equipped with containers and pumping systems for various types of oil.

Site Design: Significant site work was undertaken to address grade differences between the existing pavement and the new building site. This included extensive fill work and the creation of a ponding area to manage runoff from the new impervious surfaces.

The PNM Fleet Shop combines functional design with specialized features to support efficient vehicle maintenance and operational needs.
