Project Description:
Project Description: The Lohman Oncology Building is a state-of-the-art, two-story facility spanning 11,742 square feet, with 5,399 square feet on the first floor and 6,343 square feet on the second. This thoughtfully designed building serves as a comprehensive healthcare hub, specializing in hematology and oncology services.
On the second floor, the facility houses a dedicated infusion clinic, featuring five exam rooms, a compounding pharmacy, an infusion area with medical assistant stations, two doctor’s offices, a reception area, a waiting room, a break room, and business offices. The infusion area is designed with an open concept, accommodating nine infusion seats and large windows that provide stunning views of the Organ Mountains. The strategic arrangement of furniture between infusion stations offers patients the option for privacy during treatments or the opportunity to socialize with neighbors, enhancing their overall experience.
The compounding pharmacy is certified by the New Mexico Department of Pharmacy for the preparation of both hazardous and non-hazardous medications. It includes a pharmacy work area, two buffer rooms, an ante room, and a hazardous drug storage room. To ensure the safety of pharmacists, technicians, and patients, all rooms are equipped with appropriate negative and positive pressure systems and independent HVAC units, preventing contamination and ensuring a safe working environment.
The first floor is divided into two suites: one dedicated to internal medicine and the other to nuclear medicine. The internal medicine suite consists of nine exam rooms, a nurse station, triage area, doctor’s offices, and a medical assistant station. The nuclear medicine suite includes a PET scan room, infusion room, control room, and hot storage room for radioactive materials. These spaces are meticulously designed with safety in mind, incorporating lead-lined doors, windows, and drywall to protect against radiation exposure.
Overall, the Lohman Oncology Building is a cutting-edge facility that prioritizes patient comfort and safety while providing comprehensive cancer care. Its innovative design reflects a commitment to delivering high-quality medical services in a welcoming environment.
