Project Description:
The DPS District 3 Headquarters project involved a comprehensive expansion and renovation of an existing CMU facility in Roswell, New Mexico, addressing the growing needs of the department. The enhancements included the construction of additions to accommodate a dedicated fitness area, a booking and holding area, an evidence locker room, renovated office spaces, updated bathrooms, and a break room. Additionally, the existing facility received a new TPO membrane roofing system to ensure durability and improved performance.
Security upgrades were a key focus of the project, enhancing the safety and functionality of the headquarters. These improvements included the installation of card access doors, a fortified lobby featuring bulletproof walls, doors, and windows, as well as upgrades to existing fencing and site access. Multiple cameras were strategically placed throughout the facility to bolster surveillance capabilities.
A new metal building was designed to relocate the garage from the main facility, freeing up valuable space for the newly established booking area. This booking area is equipped with a penal-ware bathroom, a secure holding room, and a dedicated evidence locker room, all designed to meet stringent security requirements. The project also included the development of a secure faculty parking lot to enhance operational efficiency.
To elevate the overall aesthetic and professionalism of the headquarters, the quality of finishes was significantly upgraded throughout the facility. The exterior of both the existing building and the new addition was clad in corten panels, whose rusted, weathered appearance beautifully complements the existing red-colored fluted CMU block. The design of the new metal building incorporated a truck lift for maintenance, with structural and mechanical ductwork designed to ensure ample clearance around the lift, thereby enhancing functionality.
Overall, the DPS District 3 Headquarters project successfully modernizes the facility, improving both its operational capabilities and visual appeal, while ensuring a secure and efficient environment for the department’s personnel.
