Central Visitors Bureau

Design Start: May, 2016

Construction Completion: September, 2018

Owner: City of Las Cruces

Location: Las Cruces, New Mexico

Project Type: Municipality

Project Description:

The Visit Las Cruces Convention & Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) serves as a vital gateway to the downtown area, providing essential information to both out-of-town travelers and local residents about the rich array of sites and activities that Las Cruces has to offer. This development was made possible through a collaborative partnership between a private developer and the City of Las Cruces, enhancing the city’s welcoming atmosphere.

Adjacent to the CVB, the construction of “The Amador” complements the development by offering a vibrant venue for food, drinks, music, and community events, further enriching the downtown experience. The CVB itself encompasses approximately 5,968 square feet and features a striking lobby designed to embrace the breathtaking views of the Oregon Mountains. This is achieved through a double-height, slanted curtain wall glazing system that invites natural light and showcases the stunning landscape.

Inside, the CVB houses staff offices, meeting rooms, and also serves as the gang restroom and storage space for The Amador, promoting functional integration between the two facilities. The design of the CVB emerged from intense collaboration with the User Group and Developer, resulting in multiple iterations that ensured the facility not only functions effectively but also stands as an eye-catching landmark in the downtown area.

The Visit Las Cruces CVB is more than just an information center; it provides a much-needed gathering hub for the community, fostering connections and enhancing the overall visitor experience in Las Cruces. Its innovative design and strategic location make it a significant addition to the city’s architectural landscape.
