Project Description:

The renovation of the Dean’s Suite at NMSU’s Breland Hall focused on modernizing the space to enhance functionality and security while creating a welcoming environment. Key upgrades included new flooring, ceilings, paint, light fixtures, door hardware, and furniture, all designed to create an inviting environment linked closely to the New Mexico State University’s brand.

A significant aspect of the project was the design of a secure entry system to ensure the safety of staff and visitors. The reception desk was equipped with an access control gate, effectively restricting entry into the suite. Additionally, a panic button was installed at the reception desk, linked directly to the University’s Police Department for rapid response in case of emergencies.

Desert Peak Architects collaborated closely with a flooring manufacturer to create a unique carpet design that contributed heavily to the enhancing the space’s connection to NMSU’s brand and to capturing the character of the people who work in the space on a daily basis.

The renovations not only upgraded the visual appeal and security of the Dean’s Suite but also fostered a more efficient and comfortable workspace for faculty and staff. Through thoughtful design and careful coordination, Desert Peak Architects successfully enhanced the suite’s operational capacity while maintaining a warm and professional atmosphere.
