Owner: Sierra County

Location: Truth or Consequences, New Mexico

Project Type: Municipality

Project Description:

Desert Peak Architects is currently engaged in providing construction administration services for the renovation of Sierra County’s new Administration Building, a transformative project that repurposes an existing 24,148 gross square feet furniture warehouse. This renovation aims to convert the structure into a functional facility that will house Sierra County’s administration program, the District Attorney’s Office, the Misdemeanor Compliance Program, and the Dispatch Authority for the region.

Throughout the renovation process, we have actively collaborated with multiple stakeholders from various departments to ensure their diverse goals and needs are seamlessly integrated into the design. Working closely with General Contractors Smithco Construction, we have maintained a focus on keeping the project on schedule and within the County’s adjusted budget. Notably, the scope of work includes a complete re-roofing of the existing facility, a necessary enhancement that led to an increase in the project budget due to the County’s desire for a new roof.

Several successful aspects of the project include the development of design documents within a condensed time-frame to accommodate the Owner’s schedule, ensuring timely progress. Additionally, we produced 3D renderings and animated videos of the designed space, effectively conveying the design intent to the User Group and stakeholders, fostering a clear understanding of the vision.

A collaborative team mentality was encouraged among stakeholders, the contractor, and the design team, promoting a cohesive approach to delivering a high-quality product that aligns with the Owner’s budget and schedule. The Sierra County Administration Building renovation exemplifies a commitment to functional design and community service, ultimately creating a modern and efficient space for vital county operations.
